Fashion tips for Men when Shaving
So you’re going to shave (your face, guys…) and you’re wondering if a new look is appropriate. You’ve been baby faced forever and you think it’s about time to grow a beard. Maybe you want to look older, maybe you’re looking for that “distinguished” look. Here are a few fashion tips on facial hair.
Clean shaven always works. I’ve never met a girl who said they didn’t like a clean shaven face. If you’re going this route, make sure you are in fact clean shaven. The neck, for me, is always the hardest part, but I have also mistakenly gone out with a few hairs that the razor didn’t quite get to on my face. These are very noticeable, and no one will say anything unless they know you quite well. If you’re going to do the job, do it right.
The goatee style works for some men. Typically I would say try this one out and see how it plays for you. The important thing to keep in mind here is that you are happy with how it looks, and hopefully your girlfriend is happy with how it looks. If she doesn’t like your facial hair – sorry guys, shave it off. Not worth arguing over something so trivial.
The full beard. A staple among some men, and can be pulled off pretty well. Be sure you don’t have the type of hair that is going to make this “blotchy”. Unfortunately I’m one of these people, and facial hair just doesn’t fully grow in for me. Also, you may consider this as a seasonal look, as having a full beard in the summer is a little out of fashion, and likely makes you quite a bit warmer.
The moustache. I can’t go into all the different types of moustaches there are out there, because there is probably a new one being developed as I type this. All I can say is that symmetry is always a good look. Psychologists have done research to prove that we very often go for mates that have good symmetry in their faces, so try not to ruin that by having your moustache longer on one side of your face than the other.
Any other combination, you should probably avoid. Stick to the classics, as I always say. If you’re a little more on the experimental side, you (likely) have a head of hair to play around with and find a good haircut.
